Our Team

  • Meet Elizabeth. (owner + founder of the unburdened)

Elizabeth is a trauma-informed behavior specialist trained as a play therapist focusing on life transitions. That is a fancy way of saying she really likes working in community healing.

She has received her bachelor of science in recreation therapy and bachelor of science in counseling and received her master of science in applied behavior analysis with a focus on addictions. She is currently continuing her Ph.D. in counseling with a focus on addictions and her main modality is internal family systems (IFS). Elizabeth is also trained in Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Recreation Therapy (CTRS), and Somatic Healing Therapy.

She has worked primarily in the prison systems and has been working in the mental health field since 2013. She believes in the power of psychotherapy and is trained to aid and assist people through major life transitions within relationships, illness, grief, and death. Using her experiences as a disabled therapist and parent, she believes in the power of parts work, integrative medicine, and outdoor movement to find true holistic healing. She specializes in helping people find individualized modalities that work best for their personal path to healing.

Liz is the “owner” meaning she paid for the LLC but it truly takes a village. See details on the “Community Initiatives” page for more information on The Restorative Healing Project.

  • Meet Jay. (ifs coach)

Jay combines her background in psychology, traumatology, and community integration along with energy healing, mediumship, and internal family systems coaching. She has offered peer support and group facilitor for the pregnancy and infant loss (PAIL) network. She combines her professional background with her personal experience as a mother of two on earth and one in heaven. As a disabled mom and community leader, Jay believes in the power of using your voice to create the ideal community and life of your dreams. Jay has put a lot of time and energy into creating packages that will be offered through The Unburdened. See details on the “Calendar” page for more information.

  • Meet Tobi. (director of operations)

Tobi is a trained music therapist, avid rock climber, and trusted outdoor enthusiast. She currently works in civil rights but has always been a jack of all trades and gets roped into all of Liz’s pipe dreams. Everything you see here was designed by her. Minus this fancy blurb because she’s too humble. Tobi is also a cohost and sound engineer of the podcast, “Are We Healed Yet?” Click the podcast icon below on the lower right to listen!

  • Meet Tay. (functional medicine health coach)

Tay is a trained occupational therapist and certified functional medicine health coach. She has her own practice but like Tobi, she gets roped into all of Liz’s pipe dreams. Her background in functional medicine health coaching combined with her occupational therapy background provides a unique blend of evidence-based holistic practices aimed to address the “root cause” of diseases and conditions. She is also a cohost on the podcast, “Are We Healed Yet?” Tay will be offering limited-time packages offered through The Unburdened. See details on the “Calendar” page for more information.

  • Meet Iya. (director of outdoor zoomies)

Also known as Banana. See title photo above for further clarification.
